Five Crystal Facts That Might Surprise You

As a self-described forever-learner, I absolutely love picking up everything I can about spirituality, crystals, and healing. Although I am qualified and have been practising my craft for quite some time now, I understand there is still so much to learn as self-development is a lifelong process. With that said, I pass on to you, my dear readers, some interesting facts about crystals. I hope you find them as compelling as I do.

Using crystals to heal is not a new phenomenon. Crystal healing has been used in many cultures worldwide, dating back to as early as 400 BC. Early records indicate that crystals were being used either for protection or healing in ancient Rome, India, ancient Egypt, and ancient Greece. In addition, there are records of similar practices in ancient China and South America. 

Each crystal has its own healing properties. This doesn’t just mean every type of crystal (although that is also true), but rather each individual crystal contains its own healing properties. Of course, specific types of crystals are better for some things than others, but every crystal is unique in the energy it carries and exudes. 

Your crystals choose you as much as you choose them. One of the first rules of buying a new crystal is to go with your gut (see my article on choosing the perfect crystal for you). There will always be one (or a couple) that jump out at you. This means you have compatible energies and can do effective and powerful work together.

Some crystals are manmade. Of course, here at Mind Soul Sync, we prefer au natural, but some stones can be beautifully made in a lab. While they may not hold as many energy properties as a cluster or raw crystal might, they make for some stunning home decor. 

You should cleanse your crystals regularly. Crystals need regular reprogramming as energies can stale. More than that, though, sometimes our intentions change, so we have to realign our crystals to make sure the energy they radiate reflects those intentions. Recharging Your Crystals? Here’s How To Do It

As mentioned above, it’s recommended you recharge your crystals regularly. There are a couple of ways to do this, and I’ve listed them for you below: 

• Wash them in saltwater or safely in the rain
• Bury them in the earth for 24 hours
• Set them under a full or new moon
• Cleanse them with a stick of sage
• Use a pendulum or other cleansing crystals to clear stale energy

The method you use depends on the type of crystal you want to recharge. Some crystals aren’t meant to get wet, for example.
